VanSafe™ audits operational compliance in the areas of vehicle & Equipment Maintenance, Safe working environment, vehicle standards, driver licensing and competence, Customer Care, Sustainable operations, Contractor & agency management and Health and Safety. Members undertake an annual audit of their compliance in these areas. This process demonstrates members commitment to compliance and safety standards and also affords recognition for the company and team for the work being done to attain the highest possible compliance standards.
VanSafe™ is a scheme designed by some of the best van operators in Ireland
Ensuring Excellence in Van Operations with the VanSafe
Facilitated and managed by FTA Ireland to recognise excellence and improve operational standards. At its heart is the VanSafe Code which is a Code of Practice outlining ‘what good looks like’ in van operations.
With The Code established, our scheme has been developed to allow operators to ensure their standards of operation meet the requirements as laid out in the Code, enabling them to be recognised as van operators that adhere to a best practice framework. We have now developed the support available not only to those seeking or who have gained certification, but to all van operators to ensure they are operating to nationally recognised best practice standards.
Benefits of VanSafe
- Save money in fuel consumption.
- Improve Road Safety Authority (RSA) Commercial Vehicle Operator Risk Indicator Score, where appropriate.
- Reduce annual fleet insurance costs.
- Continuously improve business processes.
- Help secure direct funding for your company where youcan demonstrate reductions in fuel burn.
Who is the VanSafe Standard for?
VanSafe is open to all van fleet operations. VanSafe requires operators seeking accreditation to pass a procedural audit. This initial audit must be performed as soon as is practical but within at least 90 days of application to join the scheme. Once passed, this accreditation remains valid for one year from the first audit. Contact will be made at least eight weeks ahead of the anniversary date to arrange for re-accreditation.
Should operators fail to reach the required standard during this process, you will be provided with feedback on the areas of non-compliance and offer advice on how the required standards can be achieved. Unsuccessful applicants may select to undergo a re-audit on those failing items within 90 days of the first audit.
Applicants may only refer to the standard once they have been successfully audited. The VanSafe logo may only be used once the audit process has been successfully completed and its use must be discontinued if operators leave the scheme.
VanSafe standard operators will have their details listed on a public register which will include company and, if required, ‘division’ name and company logo.
